Shy Wines was started in 2006 by Chenin Carlton, with her husband Sean too. In 1968, a pregnant Audrey Cilurzo helped her husband Vincenzo plant a chenin blanc vineyard in Temecula, CA. In November, their first child was born, and they named her Chenin.
Chenin's never been shy about wine. But in over 30 years of wine industry experience, she noticed she was a rare exception. As an industry, we've done a lousy job of communicating one simple fact: wine isn't about arrogance, exclusivity, or elitism. It's about having fun.
